Newark to Venice
Thanks mostly to Erin, the boys bags were all set and ready for our drive to Newark airport.
We left pretty much on time but immediately realized Antonio and Jack were playing with the the iPad at the house and didn't put it back in my backpack. So we turned around and got it. Only wasted about 15 minutes.
We got to the airport with plenty of time around 3:45 I had to get someone to help with my boarding pass because my name my passport and name on my reservation didn't match 100%. Even with that we got to the gate really fast thanks to the TSA pre-check.
We killed the next 2 hours or so with snacks, reading and trying unsuccessfully to get into the United Club. Apparently for one time pass holders it was "at capacity". Oh well, just had to plan on drinks and food once in Venice.
The flight just under 8 hours and I don't think anyone was really able to fully sleep 😴. They served some kind of mango sorbet for dessert and it was mostly melted. Overall the flight was great though, not much to complain about.
We arranged with the hotel to get private vans to pick us up at the Venice airport and take us to two water taxis to get us within close walking distance of our hotel.
Seeing the "streets" of Venice for the first was amazing. So beautiful ❤️
Even though we had tons of luggage the walk to the hotel was exciting.
We got a delicious lunch at a place around the corner and rested for a bit and then went for our gondola ride at night. We all had a great time and got some great video and pictures.
Then we walked around St. Mark's Square for a bit and Jack got his Italian hat
We had dinner at a restaurant by the water.
After that we walked around a little bit more and then headed back to the hotel. We all slept REALLY well.
